Objective To investigate the caries status of the population of all ages in Qinghai province and as a baseline data of dental incidence, thus to provide scientific basis for the establishment of oral health care. Methods Referring to the guideline for the 3rd National Oral Health Survey, the method of multistage, stratified, equal capacity, simple random sampling was first carried out in population included subjects aged 5, 12, 35- 44 and 65- 74 years in Qinghai province. Results The prevalence rate of deciduous teeth dental caries in 5- yearold children was 71.63% and dmft was 3.30. The prevalence rate of permanent teeth dental caries in 12, 35- 44 and 65- 74 years old people was 22.63%, 64.47% and 73.89% respectively. The mean number of permanent teeth dental caries in 12, 35- 44 and 65- 74 years old was 0.40, 2.06 and 3.08 respectively. The prevalence rate filled rate of teeth in the four groups was 1.85%, 2.53%, 8.00% and 3.47% respectively. Conclusion The result shows
that caries situation in Qinghai population is not optimistic, and the filling rate of dental caries is very lower. Therefore, oral health education activities should be strengthened. We must take effective measures to reduce the caries prevalence in Qinghai population and to increase the filled rate of caried teeth.

Methods To substitute teeth that suffer from serious periodontal disease for auto- transplantation teeth through guided tissue regeneration technique after basic therapy, clinic effects were observed by investigating periodontal index after therapy 6, 12 months and two years. Results Clinic effects on replacing teeth which suffer from serious periodontal disease by 9 teeth of auto- transplantation were very satisfied excepted for 3 teeth that lost after treating 6, 12 months and two years. Conclusion Teeth with serious periodontal disease can be substituted by the third molar teeth that no functions of auto- transplantation in this clinic study.

Objective To discuss effective precaution of complication after wisdom tooth extraction. Methods 200 patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, 100 patients in each. Patients in experimental group took 1 tablet of morphine half an hour before the extraction and received partially injection of dexamethasone on soft tissue and they had one tablet of morphine every night three days later. Patients in control group received the extraction without special therapy. The effectiveness was determined by the extent of tumidity, irritation and the limitation of opening mouth at 24, 48 and 72 hours after the extraction. Results The complications of the patients in experimental group were less than that of the patients in control group. Conclusion It is effective to reduce the complication of tooth extraction by morphine taken orally and received partially injection of dexamethasone on soft tissue before the extraction.

Perfect apical sealing is desirable to prevent the remaining bacteria and their endotoxins from reaching the root apex, and to advance the healing of disease of apical. Apical leakage is considered to be a common cause for endodontic therapy failure. Researchers have evaluated the quality of the apical sealing using dye penetration method, fluid filtration or transportation method, bacteria and toxin infiltration method. The various methodologies used for assessing root canal sealing capacity are critically analyzed, as there are not standardized.

There are many defects in the alternating use of 3% hydrogen peroxide and saline during and after root canal instrumentation here in most of hospital in China. Sodium hypochlorite(NaClO) is widely used abroad in endodontics because of its strong antimicrobial action and tissue solvent activity. However, NaClO is also a tissue irritant and a toxic agent, and rubber dam is not widely used in China which has deterred its use. This paper reviews the research process in aspects of NaClO used as root canal irrigation which could contribute to popularize its domestic clinical application.

    Abstract ( 1583 )   HTML ( 3 )   PDF(pc) (27KB) ( 800 )   Save
The cell- mediated immune(CMI)response involves a complex series of events after antigens enter the body. First, the antigen must be taken up by macrophages or/and dendritic cells and presented to T cells, which become activated as T- helper(CD4 cells) or cytotoxic T cells(CD8 cells). CD4 cells are classified into two subgroups: Th1 cells, that secrete predominantly interleukin(IL)- 2 and interferon- γ; and Th2 cells, that secrete predominantly
IL- 4, IL- 5, and IL- 10. These cytokine secretion profiles distinguish the so- called Th1 or Th2 responses to antigen stimulation. Th1 responses activate neutrophils and macrophages to a candidacidal activity, whereas Th2
responses tend to inhibit a fungicidal state in Candida infection. There is general consensus that CMI is essential for the protection of mucosal tissues from Candida infection although the function of T cells in systemic candidiasis
    remains contentious.

Autogenous tooth transplantation or autotransplantation, is the surgical movement of a tooth from one location in the mouth to another in the same individual. Although autotransplantation has not been established as a traditional means of replacing a missing tooth and the success is effected by many factors, many studies clearly demonstrate that autotransplantation of teeth should be considered as a excellent option for treatment of an edentulous space. The aim of this article was to summarize the relative factors of its prognosis. Criteria for success and the indications were also discussed.

Due to the excellent aesthetic appearance and biocompatibility, all- ceramic materials are used extensively, not only in veneers, inlays, post cores, crowns, but also in fixed partial dentures(FPD) by dentists and patients who desire for metal- free restoration. Owing to limitation of the properties of these materials such as brittleness, flexural strength and fracture toughness, all - ceramic fixed partial dentures are used limitedly in clinic. However, the materials and technology of all- ceramic FPD have developed recently, and the in vitro and clinical study reports increased significantly, which showed all- ceramic FPD had a bright promising application. This article reviewed the research data on three kinds of all- ceramic FPD materials.

The crestal bone loss about 1.5 mm to 2 mm of two- stage implant at 1 year following implant restoration has been used as a reference for evaluating implant success for many years. But the mechanism of crestal bone loss remains unknown. By applying platform switching in implant restoration there appears to be little or no crestal bone loss. This review summarized the research progress of this area.

Chincup therapy, a kind of extra- oral appliance in orthodontic practice, is effective to control functional mandibular protraction, to do orthopaedic treatment of skeletal mandibular protrution and skeletal open bite, and to reduce side- effect of maxillary rapid expansion. So far, there are many studies to search for this appliance on its indication, long- time effectiveness, biomechanic mechanism and so on. The topic was some information of
    recent research on chincup therapy.
