Abstract: Due to the excellent aesthetic appearance and biocompatibility, all- ceramic materials are used extensively, not only in veneers, inlays, post cores, crowns, but also in fixed partial dentures(FPD) by dentists and patients who desire for metal- free restoration. Owing to limitation of the properties of these materials such as brittleness, flexural strength and fracture toughness, all - ceramic fixed partial dentures are used limitedly in clinic. However, the materials and technology of all- ceramic FPD have developed recently, and the in vitro and clinical study reports increased significantly, which showed all- ceramic FPD had a bright promising application. This article reviewed the research data on three kinds of all- ceramic FPD materials.
