Abstract: The crestal bone loss about 1.5 mm to 2 mm of two- stage implant at 1 year following implant restoration has been used as a reference for evaluating implant success for many years. But the mechanism of crestal bone loss remains unknown. By applying platform switching in implant restoration there appears to be little or no crestal bone loss. This review summarized the research progress of this area.
