Abstract: Stromal cell derived factor- 1(SDF- 1)is an important regulator of morphogenesis and chemiotaxis that related to both hematopoietic and non- hematopoietic stem cells. It has been recently shown that SDF- 1 binding toits receptor(CXCR4) is important in mediating the migration/homing of adult stem cells, therefore plays a pivotal role in regeneration and reparation after tissue/organ injury. Research advances of SDF- 1/CXCR4 axis in the migrationof adult stem cells may provide a new way to study dental pulp stem cells(DPSC)migration, especially in the bone marrow- derived stem cells.
