Function of perlecan in bone regeneration

Abstract:

Perlecan, an important basement-membrane-component, is a large heparan sulfate proteoglycan involved in growth factor sequestration and delivery, thereby enhancing cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. This review aims to discuss the recent progress of perlecan on bone and cartilage development, as well as its function in cell growth, adhesion, and proliferation during bone remodeling.
