Research progress on matrix metalloproteinase activity regulated by high glucose and the relationship with dental caries

Abstract:

Caries is a process of degradation of dentin matrix by various proteolytic enzymes from bacteria and human host after dentin demineralized. Matrix metalloproteinase(MMP), as the main endogenous enzymes, play important roles in caries development. The research progresses on MMP activity regulated by high glucose put a new direction for caries development in diabetics.
