Role of psychological factors in temporomandibular disorders

Abstract:

Temporomandibular disorders（TMD） is one of the most comm on diseases in craniomandibular system . The cause of TMD is complicated and often considered as the result of m ulti-factorial effect including psychological factors and abnorm alocclusion. Although psychological factors are thought to be the main reason, it is still controversial about its role in the development and treatm ent of TMD . Recently, considerable successes have been achieved in etiology, dual-axis diagnosis, psychological therapy of TMD and experim ental m odels by applying psychological effect.
