Objective To evaluate the curative effects and safety evaluation of “Bushenguchiwan” recipe to the patients with “kidney deficiency and hyperfire” periodontitis. M ethods Eighty eight patients with“kidney deficiency and hyperfire”periodontitis, after scaling and root planning(SR P), were random ly divided into two groups, the test group were given “Bushenguchiwan” treatment, while the control group were given“Zhibaidihuangwan” treatm ent. Three m onths later, clinical indexes of periodontitis and the sym ptom s of traditional Chinese m edicine were evaluated. R esults There was no statistical significance on effective power of“kidney deficiency and hyperfire” periodontitis, and on the im provem ent of “kidney deficiency and hyperfire” symptoms in test and control group. Im ageology data showed that both of them could increase the dense of alveolar bone, but no statistical significance on difference exsisted; There was also no statistical significance on the incidence of adverse effect. C onclusion “Bushenguchiwan ”recipe is an effective and safe drug to treat“kidney deficiency and hyperfire”periodontitis, when on the bond of SR P.

Objective To evaluate gene transcription and expression of c-fos in mandibular condyle cartilage after anterior disc displacement(ADD). Methods Thirty-two healthy adult Japanese rabbits were used in this study. Twenty-five rabbits were subjected to surgical anterior disc displacement in the right tem porom andibular joints, every 5 rabbits were sacrificed 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 weeks post-operation, 5 rabbits were used as sham -operative control and the other two without operation were used as norm al control. The gene transcription and expression of c-fos in condyle cartilage were studied by in situ hybridization and im m unohistochem ical m ethods and m easured with Image Computer A nalysis Software. Results The discs displaced anteriorly were observed successfully in the experim ental rabbits. 1 week after ADD , the data of staining by in situ hybridization and im m unohistochem ical m ethods were 57.66±4.80, 144.12±12.43 respectively, gene transcription and expression of c-fos increased significantly(P<0.05). Four weeks after ADD , the gene transcription and expression of c-fos began to decrease, 8-12 weeks after A D D , the gene transcription and expression of c-fos alm ost cam e back to the level before A D D , the data of staining by in situ hybridization and im m unohistochem ical m ethods were 16.64±0.08, 46.72±5.23 respectively, gene transcription and expression of c-fos had no significant differences(P>0.05). C onclusion In the early stage of A D D , the level of c-fos gene expression and transcription in m andibular condyle cartilage increased significantly. It m ay suggest that c-fos m ight play an im portant role in the signal transduction in the rem odeling of the m andibular condyle cartilage after A D D .

Peri-implantitis is most frequently induced by poor oral hygiene or periodontitis/periapical periodontitis from adjacent teeth, rarely by infection from antagonist teeth. The present retrospective study reported a case of early-period im plant failure caused by antagonist teeth periodontitis. Clinical exam ination results and X-ray films were presented. Precaution, diagnosis and treatm ent of early-period peri-im plantitis were analyzed. Results indicated that pathological changes may be curbed or even reversed only if inflammation tissue and source of infection could be eliminated in time.

Odontoblasts are one of the most important cells in tooth development. The key of obtaining tissue engineered dentin is to seek stable resource of seeding cells that can differentiate into odontoblasts. It is thought that tooth germs, dental papilla, dental pulp, and even pulp of exfoliated deciduous teeth have precursor cells which can form tooth. This is a review of the recent research progress in seeding cells of tissue engineered dentin.

Matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein(MEPE) is encoded by the gene m apping to the hum an chromosome 4q21.1. High expression is in the human oncogenic hypophosphatemic osteomalacia tumor. MEPE is considered to be a potential phosphatonins and inhibitor of mineralization. MEPE, referred to as minhibins, is identified in mature osteoblasts and osteocytes with a regulatory role in bone form ation and skeletal m ineralization. Moreover, based on refined gene mapping and expression by odontoblasts, MEPE is also thought to be a strong candidate gene for human dental structural diseases, including amelogenesis imperfecta, dentinogenesis imperfecta type Ⅱ,Ⅲ and dentin dysplasia type Ⅱ.

Because the form ation mechanisms are different, the characteristics of the normal joint sound and different types of TMD joint sound are various. Therefore, we can identify the joint sounds according to the energy, frequency, am plitude and occurring time of the vibration on the joint sound sonogram . And that may be useful to determine the TMJ functional status. In this article, the possible mechanism and research methods of TMJ sound, and the characteristics of sonogram were reviewed.
