Effect of chitosan and its derivates in the field of periodontal treatment

Abstract:

Chitosan(CS) is an unique cationic polysaccharide in nature. Chitosan exhibits many unique advantages such as biocompatibility, bio-adhesion, biodegradability, antibacterial, promote wound healing and tissue regeneration. In this paper, the applications of chitosan and its derivatives in the field of periodontal threatment are reviewed.
