Abstract:

Temporomandibular joint disturbance syndrome(TMJDS) is a common disease in the oral-maxillofacial region. The cause of this disease remains unknown because of multiple pathogenic factors. Considering studies conducted worldwide as references, this study discusses the epidemiology and research progress on animal models and the clinical psychology of TMJDS. It also probes into the psychological factors of TMJDS and evaluates the application of psychological treatments to address the disease.

Key words: pathogeny, treatment, temporomandibular joint disturbance syndrome, psychological factor
