Research progress on the bisphosphonates in orthodontic therapy

Abstract:

Bisphosphonates are clinically used for the treatment of bone metabolic abnormalities because they are powerful inhibitors of bone resorption. It gets gradually the clinician’s attention for it can effctively decrease the root resorption, and slow down the movement of the anchorage teeth, so it have broad application prospects, but dentists do not attach enough attention to its short-term and long-term side effects. We reviewed recent studies about the influence of bisphosphonates in orthodontic therapy.
