Abstract: Objective This study investigates the cost and benefits of orthodontic treatment. Methods We recruited 150 orthodontics patients. The sample group comprised 30 patients under 12 years old, 60 patients aged 12 to 18 years old, and 60 patients aged 18 years old or above. We issued 150 copies of valid questionnaires to the subjects. Statistical analysis was performed by SPSS statistical software. Results Differences were statistically significant among aspects of orthodontic cost, subjective feelings during treatment, duration of treatment, subjective feelings about duration of treatment, self-evaluation after treatment, and post-treatment effects on nutrition, mental state, and chewing. No differences were statistically significant among aspects of treatment time and the effects on pronunciation after treatment. Conclusion Differences in payment and benefits were found among different age groups.
