Abstract:

Three isoforms of nitricoxide synthase(NOS) have been identified: Neuronal form, endothelial form, and inducible form. Endothelial nitric oxide synthase polymorphism is one of the most common forms. This review examines the association nitric oxide synthase gene polymorphisms and diseases including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and periodontitis.

Key words: nitric oxide synthase, gene polymorphisms, atherosclerosis, diabetes, periodontal diseases
