Resear ch advances and basic char acter istics of dental papilla cells

Abstract:

The dental papilla cells(DPC) play an important regulatory role during teeth development, and represent a unique embryonic mesenchymal cell population which undergo differentiation into odontoblast. The dental papilla cells are generally defined as post- natal stem cells capable of both self- renewal and multi- lineage differentiation. This article reviews the progress in aspects of the morphologic and functional characteristics of DPC, three- dimensional cell culture and bioengineered teeth.
