Abstract:

The impacted tooth can lead to some complications, so this situation often requires early intervention treatment. Preoperative must determine the impacted teeth’s position within the jaw, teeth shape, and locations of adjacent teeth and maxillary relationship in order to determine the correct treatment. The cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) is a new image technique, which develops speedy in recent years. It can provide fast accurate three-dimensional image to make up the scarcity of traditional planar image technique. This article will make a summary about the traditional planar image technique, CBCT and so on, and compare their advantages and disadvantages in the diagnosis of impacted tooth in order to provide help for the clinical application.

Key words: impacted tooth, traditional radiographs, cone beam computed tomography
