Research progress on psychosocial impacts of orthodontic patients

Abstract: With the development of society and economy, people not only pay attention to the functional disability of malocclusion, but also put more emphasis on psychological pressure resulted from malocclusion and psychological impacts of orthodontic treatment. Domestic and foreign scholars have widely studied psychology on orthodontics, and turned to use questionnaires provided with objective evaluation items from traditional subjective clinical judgement designing various correlated questionnaires to evaluate patients′ psychological behaviour. The purpose of this paper is to review the latest relative researches on psychosocial impacts of orthodontic patients and associated questionnaires and to discuss the further domestic research direction.
