Effect of Astragalus polysaccharide on the proliferation differentiation

Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of Astragalus polysaccharide(APS) on the proliferation differentiation and structure of neonate rat calvarium osteoblasts in vitro. Methods Osteoblasts were cultured in vitro with APS of 0.08, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 g·L-1. Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium, capacity of alkaline phosphatase and cell structure were detected to determine osteoblasts proliferation and differentiation. Results APS concentration of 0.1 g·L-1 can improve the osteoblasts proliferation rate and alkaline phosphatase activity and have no negative influence on the structure of cells. Conclusion APS with proper mass concentration in culture may promote osteoblasts proliferation and differentiation.
