Application of controlled release technology in periodontal tissue regeneration

Abstract:

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that causes progressive destruction of the tooth-supporting apparatus, which potentially leads to tooth loss. Current methods to reconstruct lost periodontal tissues mainly rely on tissue-engineering technology. The release and delivery of growth factors at an optimized ratio in a specific spatiotemporal mode is thus of particular importance. This study reviews research progress on controlled release technologies in periodontal regeneration medicine.
