Abstract: Common aesthetic problems and approaches in which such problems can be dealt with after implant restoration have been receiving increasing attention from scholars. Gingival biotype is a major influencing factor of aesthetics after im-plant restoration and of the long-term stability and aesthetics of soft and hard tissues around implants. Preoperative assess-ment of gingival biotype has an important clinical significance. According to the concept of the gingival biotype, this paper illustrates its aesthetic influence on gingival recession and pink aesthetic as well as soft and hard tissues around implants.

Key words: gingival biotype, implant, soft tissue, prosthesis
