Music therapy as a nursing intervention to reduce pain during treatment of patients with deep caries

Abstract: Objective This study aims to explore music therapy as an intervention for treating patients with deep caries. Methods A total of 133 patients with deep caries were randomly divided into two groups. The control group was degree of pain experienced by the patients before and after treatment was observed using the visual analogue scale(VAS). Results Significantly lower degree of pain was experienced by the experimental group than by the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Music therapy can effectively reduce fear, relieve pain, increase the patients’ comfort, and improve the nursing quality during treatment of deep caries.
