Abstract:

Peri-implantitis is one of the major causes of implant failure. The detoxification of the implant surface is necessary to obtain bone reconstruction in surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. Laser decontamination and photodynamic therapy are the new promising options. The aim of this review was to summarize the detoxification of implant body surfaces and the enhancement in surgical treatment of peri-implantitis.

Key words: peri-implantitis, decontamination, surgical treatment, lasers, photodynamic therapy
