Abstract: Objective To evaluate the long term effect of vertical fractured posterior teeth treated by bonding and replantation surgery and analyze the influential factors of prognosis. Methods Follow up the treated teeth periodically by the examination of tooth, periodontal tissues, flexible degree, and mastication. Record the clinical examination, history registration, and X-rays, etc. Analyze all the information to evaluate the long term effect and prognosis. Results Among 40 teeth observed, the reserved rate of 3 years was 80% while among 20 teeth observed, the reserved rate of 5 years was 75%. There were 32 treated teeth survived, within which 16 were successful, 11 were functional and 5 were failured after 3 years. And there were 15 treated teeth survived, within
which 9 were successful, 3 were functional and 3 were failured after 5 years. Conclusion Time, occlusal force, physical and oral health can influence the prognosis. The treatment effects of 3 years are satisfactory. Bonding and
replantation surgery can be used to save teeth which theoretically needed to be extracted, so as to maintain the denture integrity and restore the masticatory function. The treatment effects of 5 years are just fine, which needs further study.

Key words: vertical fractured posterior teeth, bonding, replantation, prognosis
