Abstract:
Chronic periodontitis is the most common periodontal disease, a multi factor, inflammatory and destructive disease. Its incidence is related with microbial, host and environmental factors and so on. But its pathogenesis has not been fully resolved. For the past few years, most reasearches found that there were some relationship between herpesvirus and many varieties of periodontitis. Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) and human herpes virus (HHV)-6 belong to the herpesvirus. The review will introduce the relationship between EBV and HHV-6,the mechanism of EBV and HHV-6 caused chronic periodontitis, the relationship of EBV and chronic periodontitis, HHV-6 and chronic periodontitis and other studies.
