Abstract:

Objective To investigate the application of metabonomics in research of oral bacteria, through detecting different of the extracellular metabolites, and find the characteristic metabolic profile of each oral bacteria. Methods 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) spectra were obtained from each microbial culture at late exponential growth phase. The obtained data were processed by both the unsupervised principal component analysis (PCA) and the supervised partial least squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA) to find out the differences among the three groups. Results These 1H-NMR spectrograms of each bacteria are obviously different. The result of pattern recongnition presented marked clustering between the three group. PLS-DA analysis has the better effect to different these samples. Conclusion The results indicated that the 1H-NMR-based extracellular metabonomic approach is a feasible and efficient method for differentiating and analyzing oral bacteria.
