The fixed appliances have been widely used since they were introduced to China some twenty years ago. Chinese orthodontists integrated their clinical experience in previous ones and designed new appliances. Among these new appliances, the transmission straight wire appliance, six wing free edge bracket, six wing low friction low force orthodontic correction system, full synchronizing ribbon arch appliance, X buccal tube appliance, 3B Xu’ lingual bracket, individual lingual orthodontic brackets, friction adjustable system and Z2, HX straight wire appliance are the most prominent. Herein we reviewed the features of these fixed appliances in clinical to provide a comprehensive summary of the progress and innovations of fixed appliances in China.
