Research progress on retrievability of cemented implant -retained restorations

Abstract:

Compared to screw -retained restorations, cemented implant -retained restorations have been widely used due to esthetic, comfort and passive fit. To retrieve cemented restorations from implants is not easy for subsequent maintenance and treatment of complications such as peri-implant inflammation or food impaction. It is always a hot topic of retrieval, that is, how to remove cemented implant-retained restorations conveniently without damage. Two methods of removing cemented implant restorations have been reported in the literature, including removable mechanical components and choose proper cement. This review would briefly introduce the above two methods in clinical feasibility.
