Research progress on jaw distractors

Abstract:

Distraction osteogenesis has been becoming a mature technique in the maxillofacial plastic surgery, and distractor played an important role. In the present, most of the maxillofacial distractors are traditional distractors adjusted with screw. Along with the indications extending, the traditional distractors can’t meet the clinical requirements, so some new distractors are appearing now. This review aimed to introduce these distraction appliances classifiedly, which included automatic distractor, curvilinear distractor, bidirectional distractor, trifocal distractor and implanted distractor.
