Abstract:

Orthodontically induced root resorption (OIRR) is a common complication during orthodontic treatment, with a complex pathogenesis involving individual patient differences and multiple treatment-related factors. Root resorption may affect the long-term health and treatment prognosis of teeth. Consequently, numerous studies have been conduc-ted to explore strategies for its prevention and management, aiming not only to mitigate resorption but also to develop intelligent prevention and control systems. This article reviews the research progress of current major treatment methods, including pharmacotherapy, low-intensity pulsed ultrasound, photobiomodulation therapy, and artificial-intelligence-based prediction, with the aim of providing a theoretical foundation and practical insights for refining intervention strategies and ultimately contributing to the development of safer and more effective therapeutic approaches.

Key words: orthodontically induced root resorption, drug therapies, low-intensity pulsed ultrasound, photobiomo-dulation therapy
