Abstract: Recent researches revealed that nucleotide - binding oligomerization domain(Nod) was an important family of cytosolic pattern recognition receptor which plays a distinct function in the innate immune system. The recognition and interaction between Nod and pathogen associated molecular pattern(PAMP)relate to many kinds of clinical diseases. At present, there are many researches between Nod and periodontal diseases. The aim of this article was not only to review the structure and function of Nod, but also the relationship between Nod and periodontal diseases.
