Abstract: Among the tooth- coloured restorative materials now available to the dental profession, the latest are the polyacid- modified composite resins(compomers), which contain no water and cure photochemically. Studies on
the composition characteristics, water uptake influencing the mechanical properties and fluoride release were reviewed, and also its clinical applications were described on this paper.
