Coordinated development of osteoblasts by the hedgehog and wingless-type mouse mammary tumor virus integration site family signaling pathways

Abstract:

Bone development involves the regulation of multiple signaling pathways, includinghedgehog(HH) and wingless-type mouse mammary tumour virus integration site family(WNT) signaling pathways, to coordinate the development of osteoblasts. This paper reviews the effects of HH regulation on the occurrence of temporomandibular joint development, core-binding factor A1 proliferation and maturation, and Merkel cartilage differentiation; the effects of the WNT signaling pathway on nervous system formation, differentiation, and proliferation of osteoblasts in systemic bone development are also discussed. HH and WNT in classic β-catenin promote osteoblast differentiation and proliferation, inhibit cartilage cells, and regulate cell differentiation and proliferation.
