Abstract: There is a high prevalence rate of early childhood caries(ECC), and it results from a multiplication of risk factors, including different hosts, microorganisms and inappropriate behaviors. The children′ s oral health status is closely related to the mother, such as heredity, life style, educational level, concept of oral health care, as well as the harmful factors during pregnancy, and all factors above could affect the incidence of ECC. Therefore, for the prevention of ECC, it is important to know about the mother′s impact on ECC and make the mother relinquish the unhealthy habits. This article provides an overview about the mother′s impact on ECC.
