Research progress on implant therapy in periodontally compromised patients

Abstract: In comparison with periodontally healthy patients, periodontally compromised patients who receive implant therapy may be at elevated risk for peri-implant diseases and show lower implant survival and success rate. The rationality of periodontal treatment planning, timing of implant installation, examination, diagnosis and treatment of peri-implant diseases during supportive periodontal therapy（SPT） are the impacting factors of implant survival and success rate in periodontally compromised patients. This review discussed the research progress of implant therapy in periodontally compro mised patients.
