Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction occur from a set of complex genetic and environmental factors. More and more evidences suggest that oral infection is a potential risk factor of some systemic diseases, including cardiovascular disease(atherosclerosis, heart disease, stroke), pregnancy complications(spontaneous preterm) and diabetes. Clinical studies have shown that patients with perio dontitis have a higher marker of systemic inflammatory response objects, such as C-reactive protein, interleukin-6, haptoglobin, fibrinogen. In patients with periodontitis, these markers are much higher than simply acute myocardial infarction patients. This article is the summary of the mechanism of cardiovascular disease caused by oral infection.

Key words: cardiovascular disease, oral infection, systemic inflammatory response
