Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the efficiency of mini-screw implants as orthodontic anchorage for anterior teeth retraction in orthodontics treatment. Methods Nineteen patients with maxillary or bimaxillary protrusion were selected， and they were treated with mini-screw implants as anchorage for anterior teeth retraction. The sides of cephalometric roent- genogram were taken at the beginning and the end of the treatment. Taking SN as oriterion，overlap the pictures of cephalometrics were taken at the beginning and the end of the treatment, and the movements of the first molar were observed. Exchanges of the anterior overbite and overjet，Class Ⅱ molar relationship and the improvements of facial symmetry were observed after the treatment. Results Among the nineteen patients, sixteen successfully complished the orthodontics treatment. They all set up correct relationship of overbite and overjet and successfully rectified the Class Ⅱ molar relationship. Facial symmetry obviously improved and the first molar remained stable. Conclusion Compared with the traditional strong anchorage，the homemade mini-screw implant anchorage is stronger for the molar anchorage，with which the ideal anchorage contral could be achieved.
