Abstract: The functional state of temporomandibular joint(TMJ) is important to oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontic and prosthodontic treatment. As a newly introduced approach for TMJ functional assessment, ultrasound is used more and more widely because of its non-invasive, economic and effective character. This article summarized ultrasound′s usage on detecting TMJ disk position, condylar motion track and TMJ sound.
