Abstract: In the classical sensory homunculus proposed by penfield, there were no representations of the face, teeth and oral cavity in somatosensory cortex. The article reviewed investigations of cortical representation of oral structures in somatosensory cortex with based on non- invasive functional magnetic resonance imaging functional magnetic resonance imaging measurements.
