Abstract:

Many researchers have reported 10- 20 genes and loci involved in non- syndromic cleft lip and palate since 1980s. Among these, interferon regulatory factor- 6(IRF- 6)was the most valuable gene contributing to non- syndromic cleft lip and palate to date. Here,it was briefly generalized the structures, functions, and polymorphisms of IRF- 6 gene, especially progress in association of V274I mutation and non- syndromic cleft lip and palate.

Key words: interferon regulatory factor- 6, gene polymorphism, non- syndromic cleft lip and palate
