Abstract:

Three-dimensional image fusion technique for craniofacial region possesses incomparable and unique merits in craniofacial anthropometry, craniofacial structure evaluation, deformity diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical procedure simulation and outcome prediction in the fields of modern orthognathics, craniomaxillofacial plastic and reconstruction surgery, and orthodontics over other imaging techniques, showing its promising application value and prospect in the clinical practice and scientific research of above-mentioned subjects. This article reviewed the mode selection, basic principles, characteristics and applications of three-dimensional image fusion technique for craniofacial region.

Key words: three-dimensional image fusion, hard and soft tissue, craniofacial region
