Abstract:

Streptococcus mutans（S.mutans） is a member of the Streptococci viridans group which accounts for over 45% cases of infective endocarditis（IE）. For the last few years, scientists have been managing to realize the relation between S.mutans and IE by researching on the surface protein of S.mutans. This article reviewed the cell surface protein antigen, wall-associated protein, glucan-binding protein, glucosyltransferases, biofilm regulatory proteinA,
fibronectin and several adhesins of S.mutans to conclude their association with IE.
