Abstract: Calcium hydroxide is the most commonly used disinfectant in clinical medicine. The success rate of root canal therapy can be reduced by the residual calcium hydroxide. The removal efficiency of calcium hydroxide in root canal was reviewed in the following aspects: anatomy of root canal, application of different irrigation equipment and irrigation solution.

Key words: calcium hydroxide, root canal disinfectant, removal efficiency
