Abstract:

Objective To study the clinical application of easy resilient attachment(ERA) in posterior teeth for extension defect. Methods A total of 22 patients with extension defect were selected randomly through a self-controlled clinical study. These patients were wearing removable partial dentures before using the ERA dentures. Chewing function tests were performed using the ERA dentures immediately and one month later. A follow-up period was scheduled from 6 months to 2.5 years. The satisfaction of patients with the dentures was measured by using questionnaires, and an X-ray inspection was conducted to determine the treatment results. Results The chewing efficiency of ERA dentures is higher than that of removable partial dentures when these dentures are worn immediately and a month later. The difference between the two dentures was significantly different(P<0.05). However, no significant difference was found in terms of pronunciation and comfort. The appearance and retention of ERA dentures are superior to those of removable partial dentures(P<0.05). Conclusion The effects of ERA dentures are significantly superior to those of removable partial dentures.

Key words: extension defect, easy resilient attachment, posterior teeh
