Abstract: As a group of multifunctional signal secreting molecules, bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) may not only modulate a broad array of cellular responses including proliferation, differentiation, migration and apoptosis, but also play key roles on the formation of bone, cartilage and even tooth. This review, which is about the progress of negative accommodation of BMP signal pathway, includes the features and functions of extra-cellular antagonists, intra-cellular antagonists, and negative transcription factors.
