Abstract:

Streptococcus sobrinus（S.sobrinus）is another important cariogenic microorganism of Mutans streptococci（S.mutans）. Although S.sobrinus was less frequently detected in human oral cavities than S.mutans, it has been
described as more virulent than S.mutans due to its high acidogenicity and acid tolerance. Following the improvement of test facility and the elevation of detection sensibility, the detection rate of S.sobrinus in human oral has
been rising obviously. The study about S.sobrinus has progressed markedly in the last two decades, and we provide a summary of advances on the bionomics, cariogenic character of S.sobrinus and its relationship with anti - caries immunization, in order to provide some reference for further study about etiology of dental caries and anti- caries immunization.
