Abstract: Diabetes mellitus and periodontal diseases are highly prevalent chronic diseases, they effect each other. The purpose of this review is to provide the reader review of the research of concerning mechanisms between diabetes mellitus and periodontal diseases in recent years, in regard of immunoinflammatory response, insulin resistance, and the effect of periodontal therapy on glycemic control of diabetic patients.
