Abstract: Streptococcus mutans has been implicated as a primary pathogenic agent of dental caries in human. Glucan binding proteins are thought as one of the significant causative agents. Glucan binding protein B plays an important role in cariogenic trait of Streptococcus mutans. It is also involved in cell shape and cell function of Streptococcus mutans. On the other hand, immunologic property of its amino terminus makes it possible to be used in immunization against dental caries. This review paid attention to the research progress of the biological
property of glucan binding protein B.
