Abstract: Previous studies have indicated the close relation between bone tumors and bone morphogenetic protein-2（BMP-2）. As the knowledge of tumorigenesis mechanism being more profound and extensive, scientists have focused on the correlation between epithelial tumors and BMP-2. Thus, this review will overview the biological characteristics of BMP-2, mechanism of BMP-2 signaling pathway, the expression of BMP-2 in tumors, the relationships between BMP-2 and angiogenesis in tumors, tumors growth, tumors invasiveness, the potential application of BMP-2 and related drugs in tumor therapy.
