Abstract: Axin gene was been found since 1997 which encoded the Axin, the family include axin-1 and axin-2 gene. Axin-2 gene is a negative regulator of Wnt/β-catenin signalling, regulates cellular proliferation, differentiation, and is essential for development and morphogenesis, tooth development is under strict genetic control, gene affecting early tooth development. Axin-2 gene may be associated with familial tooth agenesis or oligodontia. It also acts as a tumor suppressor by limiting the deregulation of Wnt signalling that is common in some cancers. To study the axin-2 gene will be helpful for us to understand the aspects of tooth development.
