Abstract: Apexification is a technique to induce a calcified barrier in a root with an open apex or the continued apical development of an incomplete root in young permanent teeth through some special material. Recent years there were many studies about its inductors, but lack of the histological basis and the echanisms. This article will review the studies about the histological basis. We expect to designate the direction to the further studies on apexification.
