Relationship between open bite and the temporomandibular joint disorder

Abstract: The dentofacial morphology, deglutition pattern, the balance of masticatory muscles force and the mandibular movement are unique in the open bite patients. At present, no evidence shows that there are cause- effect
relationship or interaction between open bite and the temporomandibular joint disorder. This review is about the relationship between open bite and temporomandibular joint disorder in the dentofacial morphology, the pattern
of deglutition, the balance of masticatory muscles force as well as mandibular movement in the open bite patients.
